Moo Deng, a baby pygmy hippopotamus born on July 10, 2024, at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, Thailand, has captured hearts worldwide with her playful antics. Her name, meaning “Bouncy Pork” in Thai, reflects her lively spirit, which has gained her over 2.5 million TikTok followers. Moo Deng’s viral fame, fueled by her zookeeper Atthapon Nundee, has brought attention to the critically endangered pygmy hippos, with only about 2,000-3,000 left in the wild. The zoo hopes her popularity will raise awareness and support for vital conservation efforts.
